KOCHI, KERALA · RESIDENTIAL LANDSCAPE

Contemporary
Villa

A tropical landscape designed around contemporary architecture.

A landscape designed to soften the geometry of a contemporary home.

The brief was to create a garden that felt connected to the architecture without becoming overly formal. Tropical planting, natural stone and carefully placed lighting were brought together to create a landscape that feels calm during the day and atmospheric after dark.

Location Kochi, Kerala
Type Residential
Scope Design + Execution
Area 4,800 sq.ft.
01 The Brief

Creating a garden that feels naturally connected to the home.

The clients wanted their outdoor space to become an extension of the house rather than a separate garden. The landscape needed to feel lush and tropical while maintaining the clean character of the architecture.

Circulation, planting and hardscape were therefore developed together. Instead of filling the site with decorative elements, the design focused on a few strong materials and carefully layered greenery.

DESIGN APPROACH

Every element has a role in shaping the experience.

01

Stone & Hardscape

Natural stone was used to define pathways, steps and transitions between the architecture and planted areas.

02

Tropical Planting

Layered planting creates depth around the architecture while maintaining open views and usable areas of lawn.

03

Outdoor Lighting

Warm, low-level lighting highlights planting, stonework and circulation paths after sunset.

04

Garden Circulation

A simple stepping path creates movement through the garden while maintaining a direct connection to the entrance.

02 The Result

A garden that belongs to the architecture.

The finished landscape creates a softer, greener edge around the contemporary residence. Open lawn provides breathing space, while layered planting and natural stone give the garden depth.
